Tip of the Day – 7/24/09
Perform water changes at least twice a month. This will keep your excess nutrients down and will replace things like calcium and magnesium that is lost to coral growth.

Be careful when using wavemaking devices. The surging wave could be too powerful for the seams of your tank or the stability of your stand. You could end up with quite a mess.

If you have a eurobrace or center brace in your aquarium, be sure to clean it regularly. Salt creep buildup can block out a lot of light.

Tip of the Day – 7/20/09
Natural lighting can actually be bad for the home aquarium. It can cause algae growth, throw off your desired photoperiod, and can even heat up your aquarium. So, when deciding on a location for your aquarium, try to pick a spot away from any windows.
Tip of the Day – 7/19/09
It’s a good idea to wear gloves while tinkering in your tank, even if you aren’t fragging corals. The slightest abrasion can open your skin up to all sorts of bacteria and pathogens found within your aquarium. Better to be on the safe side than sorry.
