Tip of the Day – 8/21/09

Be careful when handling carpet anemones. These anemones can pack a power and painful sting. They are also known to eat the fish in your aquarium, and like all anemones, they have the ability to travel around the tank. Please Support Our Sponsors:

Volcano Skimmer

Tip of the Day – 8/20/09

If ever running Ozone into your aquarium, it’s always wise to monitor it by using an ORP meter or ORP controller. If you’re not careful, the ORP (or oxidation reduction potential) could get too high and kill your aquarium’s livestock.

Tip of the Day – 8/19/09

If you want to get a real feel for how much energy your aquarium uses, simply add a “Kill-A-Watt” digital meter to your aquarium equipment. This device will tell you exactly how much energy you are using.

Tip of the Day – 8/18/09

Copper is deadly to aquarium invertebrates like shrimp, coral, anemones, etc. So when purchasing live rock or aquarium equipment from someone, ask to see if they ever used copper in their system because it can (and will) leach back into your setup.
