Reef Aquarium Photography – Part 1

This is part one of a multi-part series on aquarium photography. In this installment, we’ll be introducing you to the camera, as well as some of the equipment used to help you get quality shots. Surprisingly, taking quality pictures of your aquarium can actually be quite difficult. Fast moving fish, the aquarium glass, and the [...]

Tip of the Day – 12/28/09

If you have children around, it would be a good idea to have child locks on your aquarium cabinet doors. Too many times a wandering child will find his or her way into your aquarium equipment and want to play.

If you got an awesome aquarium-related Christmas gift, be sure to let the person who gave you that gift know how important it was. I was stoked with the macro lens and Reeflo pump that I got as presents and made sure I showed how thankful I was.

In short, I was in [...]

Tip of the Day – 12/23/09

Don’t buy fish from places with a bad reputation. Purchasing fish to “save them” will only encourage the retailer to purchase more of the fish.

BlueSkim Protein Skimmers From Fauna Marin

Fauna Marin has a new line of skimmers coming out in January of next year. Dubbed the Blue Line protein skimmer series, these are reported to be able to be completely disassembled for maintenance. Additionally, Fauna Marin has decided to use the Aquabee pumps as the introductory pumps for the Blue Line skimmers, though different [...]

ATB Nano Cone Skimmer

ATB is adding another cone skimmer to their already beefy arsenal of cone skimmers. The ATB nano cone skimmer will measure 18.5″ tall, with  a footprint of 7.8″ x 11.8″. Additionally, this new ATB Nano has a removable base plate, allowing it to be completely disassembled for maintenance. And unlike other ATB skimmers, the nano [...]
