Injecting Aiptasia with Lemon Juice

Aiptasia are a nuisance anemone that reproduce quickly and sting nearby corals. If their populations go unchecked, Aiptasia can spread all over the aquarium and become almost impossible to remove. But I’ve found a great video demonstrating how to kill these pest anemones with common household supplies. In the following video, the aquarist injects each of the Aiptasia anemones with lemon juice. This acidic substance will kill the anemones and prevent them from reproducing and wreaking havoc on your tank. One thing the video leaves out is the suggestion to only inject a few anemones per day. Overdoing it could cause a hefty drop in the tank’s pH and dead anemones could foul up the water.
