Want to pair up clownfish? To help you out, it might be wise to purchase a large clownfish and a small clownfish. The larger clown will most certainly be female, while the small one will be a male. This, however, doesn’t guarantee absolute peace, as they may still fight with each other.

I have 2 tomato clowns I bought small. One grew. Now they pair up and lay eggs regularly. Fish can change sex, and will, when necessary.

yeah, clownfish can change from male to female. but you gotta be careful because they can't change back to male. once a female, always a female. usually the more dominant of the two becomes the female. this happens in a lot of fish species.
