Tip of the Day – 2/10/10

It is a myth that captive-bred/tank-raised clownfish will not host to an anemone. Many people argue that since the clownfish has never seen an anemone, it will not take up residence in one. That is not true. I have had and have seen tank-raised clownfish take to anemones very quickly. Even clownfish several generations removed from the wild will instinctively hide in an anemone. It just may take a while for the clown to cozy up to any anemone.

I agree with you here! I have 2 captive-bred clownfish. It took about 2 weeks before they start hosting anemones but they did. The same happened for a few people I know.
