Tip of the Day – 3/4/10

Mangroves make for great natural aquarium filters, but oftentimes aquarists plant them incorrectly in the sandbed. The roots are where the nutrients are taken up and they need to be in the water column as opposed to buried in the sand. Float the mangroves and let the roots grow to the bottom.
