Shark Fact of the Day – 8/2/2010

A common method of attach for Great White Sharks is a breaching method. The shark swims near the bottom and looks out for prey swimming at the water’s surface. Once the Great White spots its prey, it attacks from below and at a very high speed. The shark is moving so fast that it can launch itself completely out of the water. Scientists believe the sharks use this tactic when there’s a lot of competition nearby. The shark, in this case, doesn’t attack and wait for the prey to bleed. Instead, it’s going straight for the kill.
