Tip of the Day – 8/17/2012By: Brandon Klaus
The air diffusing stones that are used with most air pumps are great for a some short term aerating of your water, but after a only a few uses, they will start to break apart and deposit bits and pieces of the stone into the water. As an alternative, we recommend using air stones of the wooden variety, as they will not break apart and dissolve. Instead, they will get soggy and stop producing the fine wall of bubbles, prompting hobbyists to replace them, but they are a far safer and cause fewer problems. All that said, the wooden diffusers are a bit harder to find, and may require some special ordering to find them.
