Do you have a passion for the saltwater aquarium hobby and love to write? The AquaNerd Blog is in search of more writers. We are seeking reef aquarium enthusiasts who are active in their aquarium communities and want to regularly share their experiences and ideas with the world. If you are an aspiring writer, this couldn’t be a better gig, as there are no deadlines and no pressure. Once you become a member of our team, you can write freely about whatever interests you (aquarium related of course) and whenever you want. We will never pressure you to write an article or dictate what you must discuss. We may offer up a suggestion from time to time, but this is purely for collaborative purposes and to help get ideas flowing.

Even if you don’t want to write regularly, you can still contribute. If you have a great unpublished article you have written or an idea that you want to share with fellow aquarium keepers, you can submit it to us via email. We will post it as a guest submission, making sure to attach your name to the article so you get credit. If writing is absolutely out of the question, you can also submit photos for us to use in some of our articles. There is a countless number of ways you can contribute to the AquaNerd community

Have Your Aquarium Products Featured on the AquaNerd Blog

Do you have a new and exciting product that you want to share with the aquarium community? Or do you have a product that’s been around for a while but just needs more exposure? Well, let us feature it for you here, on the AquaNerd Blog. Send us your aquarium equipment, let us test it out, and we will write an honest review of what we think. After our review has been performed, we will give the donated item away to one of our lucky readers, which will be randomly selected in one of our many contests.

The AquaNerd Blog receives thousands of visitors each month, and our traffic continues to grow. We are continually expanding and finding ways to expand our fan base, and we want to take your equipment along for the ride. Your product and company logo will be exposed to your target audience, both on the actual review and subsequent contest announcements. It took me a few days to tally up all the votes (bigger handful than I originally anticipated), but we finally have the winners! The AquaNerd Photobook

The AquaNerd Photo Book

I was browsing the thousands of photos I’ve taken over the past few years and I decided to try make something of them. Recalling a photobook a friend had given my wife for our wedding, I decided to a photobook of my own. This book will not feature pictures of my wife and I, much to the dismay of the misses. Instead, the photobook will focus on saltwater fish and corals. The project is just getting started, but I’ve got around 90 pictures gathered up and the layout is currently being hammered out. If all goes well, this book might become available to purchase, but I can’t promise anything. I’m assuming the book will be 20+ pages, and the more images I can take (or get a hold of) the better. Above is an example of the cover of the book. Again, this project is in the early stages and the book cover above might not end up as the actual cover when all is said and done.

Would you like to contribute images to the AquaNerd Photobook? Simply EMAIL US a high resolution image (the higher the resolution the better), as well as your real name and other contact information. We will review all the pictures we receive, and if your image is selected, it will be featured in the book. Your name will accompany the image (in the caption) as well.

Welcome Our Newest Contributor

I would like to introduce the newest member of the AquaNerd Crew, Steven Bitter. Steve spent 6 years working the retail side of the hobby at Aquatouch in Phoenix, Arizona. He was the quarantine and livestock manager,, and is very familiar with the aquarium the industry. Additionally, Steve has begun to write a column for Aquarium Fish International, and he writes regularly for Pet Product News. Also, Steve published in FAMA (before it shut down) along with the Marine Fish and Reef USA annual magazine. He plants on attending IMAC and MACNA, so we will have some coverage of both events.

I’m very excited to be bringing Steve on board with us. So let’s give him a warm AquaNerd welcome.

Happy 4th of July from AquaNerd, Update on the Frag Tank

Just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July. Watch out for fireworks blowing your arm off. I will spend the holiday playing with the aquariums. I’ve decided to tear down the frag tank and start over on it. We are painting the bottom and the back of the black, just to hide some of the plumbing. The tank should be done soon, so keep an eye out for more updates.

The New AquaNerd Logo

Check it out, we’ve got a logo! Thanks to Dustin from my local reef aquarium club for creating this great logo. I saw it and immediately fell in love. We hope to use this logo (and various incarnations of it) as a watermark on photographs, on the top of our website, and for various other branding needs. Tell us what you think about it
