Coral Frag Caddy Simplifies Coral Transport

The guys at BMC Acrylics have developed one of the most ingenious and useful tools for traveling frag traders/sellers, called the Coral Frag Caddy. This very simple setup allows users to safely transport frags on frag racks stored in buckets. The buckets then easily fit into a cooler, as demonstrated below.

Stunning Arrow Crab Video

The guys at the Morphologic Blog have released another eye-popping video, this time of an Arrow crab. Though the arrow crabs are fairly common in the aquarium world, the artistic masters at the Morphologic Blog somehow manage to make this creature seem  strange and unfamiliar.

Dolphin Documentary Wins Big at Academy Awards

I normally don’t follow Hollywood related events, but a certain award given out at at the Academy Awards caught my attention last night. I was surfing the web while my wife watched the award ceremony, and the movie “The Cove” was displayed as a nominee for one of the categories. “The Cove”, a chilling documentary [...]

Low Oxygen Zones in the Ocean Growing

Areas of hypoxia, or low oxygen, have long existed in the deep waters of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans, but appear to be growing according to scientists. These “dead zones” appear to be spreading even into continental shelf areas and even approaching the surface. The lack of oxygen is so bad in some areas [...]

Behind the Scenes at Moody Gardens

The display tanks weren’t in the greatest shape, but we have to remember that Moody Gardens and the entire southeast [...]

Aquarium Full of Anemones and Clownfish

A lot of reef aquariums typically favor one type (or genera) of coral. There are a lot of SPS dominated aquariums, which usually translates to Acropora dominated aquarium. Some even like to go for total LPS domination and spread chalices, favias, and other colorful hard, yet fleshy, corals throughout their tanks. But have you ever [...]
